Happy New Year!

After the field trip in November, FEP students jumped right into the holiday season. It was a very festive and cultural time of year, with lots of songs, activities, and even some guests. Students learned about the American holiday of Thanksgiving in late November, and then spent time decorating our classroom and getting ready for Christmas.

PRC also hosted some student teachers from Deakin University in Australia and our P.2 students had the chance to explore Australian culture with Teacher Madeline for a few weeks.

We hope you had a Merry Christmas and had time to relax and celebrate the holidays. Now, we are back to school and gearing up for Parents' Day...coming soon. Be on the lookout for a newsletter with more information. Also, the word lists have been updated through the current unit, Unit 8. There are 9 units for the whole year.

Field Trip 2010

Friday, November 5th was a day of fun-filled learning and new activities for both P.1 and P.2 students. We had perfect weather for the activities at Tweechol Gardens and students seemed to enjoy themselves. We were very pleased to have some foreign exchange students from Payap University help out and interact with our students. We are very proud of our students for feeling comfortable and confident in interacting with the native English speaking university students and even asking them questions while of course following their instructions. We were also lucky to have some PRC Gifted English students from upper mattayom help out as well as the other two native English teachers from level 1. Students were busy with English activities throughout the morning, had lunch and some free time at the playground, boarded buses for tours of the park, and finished off the afternoon with slideshows, presentations, and reading/writing exercises in their activity books. Welcome Back!

The second semester has begun and we are off to an exciting start. During the first week, we started a new unit, but also had a fun time learning more about Halloween. Here are some pictures from our pumpkin carving activities!

The End of the Term

The final days of the semester are upon us and we are glad that FEP students are in good health. By the end of next week, students will have finished all their tests and grades will be calculated. Parents will also be receiving FEP progress reports that show students' achievement according to each indicator, as well as some additional assessment that we think is very important. Please look over these and discuss them with your child, especially areas in which the student may be struggline. Keep in mind not all indicators have been evaluated yet.
